It’s a whole lot more work than I thought it would be, and I knew I'd say that at some point. Is that a contradiction?
Regular maintenance goes a long way in slowing down decay and corrosion.
There’s lots of excitement at the start, but long journeys will get tedious at some point.
Things can look overwhelming and hopeless at times - good idea to put it down, get some sleep, and then look at it later with fresh eyes and a rested brain.
Getting help is absolutely essential.
The people that have helped me most came completely by surprise. More generally, help often comes in surprising ways and places.
Enjoy the process/journey and don’t get overly focused on the destination; at the same time, know where you’re headed, keep the goal in mind, and be prepared to make adjustments along the way.
Sometimes nothing seems to work and you just want to give up.
